Throughout The Woodway Federation, we believe that all children are individuals and bring with them distinctive skills, interests, aspirations and preferred learning styles. In order to help each child achieve their full potential whilst with us and in preparation for their next school, we aim to support, nurture and teach them through offering a curriculum that will generate confidence, self-esteem, curiosity and a joy for learning. This will teach them the skills to achieve appropriate and challenging personal targets and develop an enthusiasm for learning in order that they may make the most of the opportunities presented to them. We believe our children are entitled to access a stimulating and challenging education and to know that their contributions and achievements are always recognized and valued. Above all we aim to help them to become successful learners for life as well as rounded human beings.

We are committed to delivering a broad, creative and relevant curriculum through well-planned, structured and differentiated learning activities at a level and pace appropriate to each individual’s abilities and needs. Pupils are taught in a range of small groups, as individuals, whole classes and larger groups. When organizing the learning experiences on offer to our children, an understanding that learning outside the classroom and learning in the natural environment raises attainment and strengthens social, emotional and personal development, supports our planning and delivery.

Children learn at different stages and having had a vast array of educational experiences and as such, many will have vast gaps in their knowledge, skills and understanding and find engaging in learning a challenge. In order to match individual ability and need, it is appropriate and necessary to modify our curriculum in order to provide an education that will maximize potential, ensure continuity and progress. Our curriculum is designed to maximise children's engagement and enjoyment with learning and is woven together with a keen eye on the spiritual, social, moral and cultural curriculum (SMSC). We encourage learning in the natural environment (LINE) and teach through a thematic approach.

We do all of the above by employing a dedicated team of experienced, talented and caring staff, and by tailoring our provision to meet the needs of every individual child. We feel that it is vital to inspire, motivate and challenge all our pupils whilst at the same time providing a therapeutic context for their difficulties.
