Message From Mrs Palmer-Greene
Welcome back to a new school year. I all hope you had a good break and return rested and ready for another busy year.
It is lovely to see all our pupils back in school looking very smart in their school uniform.
A warm welcome extends to all of our new students at Woodstock School and Bristol Gateway this year. I am sure you will be very happy in your new school.
Classes are now underway and routines are being resumed and from all the hard work I can see, I am pleased to see them settling into the new school year and enjoying their learning.
I would like to congratulate all our students for their many individual successes and I feel very proud of them as I know these results will be an excellent foundation and testify to their commitment, dedication, hard work and love of learning.
Excellent attendance is essential as absence from school is known to be the number one factor that hinders student progress and, in turn, examination performance.
Attendance is all the more important given students in all year groups, throughout the federation, are involved in preparation for public exams and hence, in line with Government Policy, the Federation is not in a position to authorise holidays during term time.
Please remember to use our Absence line to report any absence for your child.
Your child’s illness or any other absence should be reported on the first day and every subsequent day by either telephoning our Offices on 0117 3772175 (Woodstock) / 0117 3772275 (Gateway) (these telephone numbers are always available and has an answerphone for out of hours) wherever possible before 9am.
Please remember to give your child’s name, class, the reason for absence and expected return date.
In addition, we may request medical evidence if your child is absent for three days or longer; including copies of any medical appointment letters for our records.
Should you wish to speak to someone about your child’s absence you can contact our Attendance Officer Mrs Julie Pester of Woodstock or Dave Porter of Bristol Gateway.
If there is anything that you would like to discuss during the year, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
Thank you in advance for your support in this forthcoming year.
