Welcome to Poplar Class

Term 6

Welcome to Term 6 of 2018-2019.

This year Poplar Class will be taught by Mrs Stratou. They will be supported by the very experienced LSA Miss Watt.

This term is going to be a really busy and interesting term for Poplar Class!

In our English lessons we will be learning all about spooky stories and will try to write our very own scary story! Beware as you will be in for a scare! As we will continue to explore what is happening inside our bodies in our topic sessions in the afternoon, we will then use all this knowledge to create informative posters!

In our Maths and numeracy sessions this term we have a focus on 3-D shapes and position. Here we will also keep working on learning our times tables off by heart.

In our PSHE lessons on a Monday afternoon we will be looking at changes that happen in our bodies physically as well as changes that occur in our lives.

Our PE sessions will take place on a Thursday afternoon, so please make sure your child brings in their trainers on Thursdays. School will provide comfortable shorts/trousers and a t-shirt.

It's important that our pupils feel part of the Woodstock School community, so please ensure your child is wearing the right uniform: black shoes, black trousers, school t-shirt and blue Woodstock jumper. It's a good idea to label your child's clothes to ensure no clothing mix-ups. Trainers are only to be worn at break times or PE.

Reading - books will be sent home weekly, so please ensure that you encourage your child to read to you to keep them making progress in their reading.

Spellings -will be sent home weekly, the pupils will need to practice these over the weekend and be test ready when they return to School on Monday.

Lastly, we'd like to highlight that good attendance is key to the pupils achieving their full academic potential. This year is even more important as we will be getting ready for our SATs so any time missed can leave a pupil missing crucial information.

In Poplar class we are looking forward to another fantastic term
